Today, we are making our own bead loom and friendship bracelets.

Supplies Needed

• Leftover cardboard (we used an old Kiss Naturals box)
• Scissors
• Sewing thread
• Sewing needle
• Small beads (also known as “seed beads”) 

Directions

Cut your cardboard piece into a medium sized square. If you are using an old Kiss Naturals box, break down the box and cut out the back side to use as your loom.

Next, cut four small slits each on the top and bottom of the box, about 1 millimeter apart. Make sure they line up.

Tip: By making four slits you can string three beads. The more beads you want, the more slits you should cut. For example, if you want your bracelet to have 6 rows for beads then you would need to make 7 slits.

Wrap the thread around the board, making the board curved. This way you can move your hand easily over the top and bottom of the bead loom. 

Once you’ve pulled all your threads tightly, tie them off somewhere to the side. 

Run a long thread (30 inches or so) through your needle and tie the ends together. Next, run the threaded needle under the string farthest to the left, loop it over the top, and back down through itself so it locks onto the string.

Next, start picking your beads. Grab any three beads and place each bead between each thread (from the top). 

Then MOST IMPORTANTLY, push the beads gently down with your finger or thumb. Return the needle under the right string, back through the same three beads.

Repeat the last two steps until your bracelet is full of beads.
